Busy as a Bee
Whew! It's been a busy weekend with lots of sight, sounds and country jobs. Saturday my husband and I went blackberry picking, while still a little early here on the mountain, we did end up getting enough to make nine little jars of jelly. While we were riding around on all those Virginia country gravel roads, I spotted three trees loaded with some type of berry. Upon further investigation we realized that we had come up on sarvis berries.
Sunday morning while on our way to breakfast, a mother grouse with five babies was crossing the road. Later that evening, we went back to pick some of those sarvis berries we had happened upon the day before. Those little berries are so small, but we finally filled a pail. I guess that means I'll be canning more jelly tonight.
So I was reading in bed about 11:00 last night and then I hear a ...........
Whoo! Whoo-whoo-whoo! Whoo! Whoo! I was so excited, I knew this was an owl but what type? I researched this morning in my "Birds of North America" book and found that it was a Great Horned Owl, the most widespread owl in North America!
I love living in the country with all of the sights, smells and sounds!

Crown Jewels
Now on etsy, click the picture to see.........
I used lots of fine silver foil on these little babies which gives the
ivory a crackled and antique look. I also pulled some goldstone stringer that gives them a little extra sparkle. A great set of beads for a bracelet.
