Whew! It's been a busy weekend with lots of sight, sounds and country jobs. Saturday my husband and I went blackberry picking, while still a little early here on the mountain, we did end up getting enough to make nine little jars of jelly. While we were riding around on all those Virginia country gravel roads, I spotted three trees loaded with some type of berry. Upon further investigation we realized that we had come up on sarvis berries.
breakfast, a mother grouse with five babies was crossing the road. Later that evening, we went back to pick some of those sarvis berries we had happened upon the day before. Those little berries are so small, but we finally filled a pail. I guess that means I'll be canning more jelly tonight.
